Hi,
My name is Ismael Ortega, my father (Vincent Ortega) and I, developed and manufactured a non powered hand tool, to assist in opening and closing dismountable shipping cargo container side by side style doors. The tool is best described as a safety leverage extension bar. Allowing the driver/operator, the ability to use your hands, proper body mechanics and leverage to assist in opening and closing the above stated doors. What is meant by this, is actually the manipulation of a single bar or double bar locking mechanism found on the doors, of the dismountable shipping cargo container industry. Most driver/operators use a variety of tools that were never developed nor intended for use in this particular application. Until now, driver/operators had to make do with whatever was readily at hand or in their own tool box or do without any tools at all.

The following are tools that are misused in our industry but were never developed for use in our industry;
• 18 “ or longer Crow Bars
• 18 “ or longer Crescent Wrenches
• 18 “ or longer Flat Head Screwdrivers
• 24 “ aluminum or wooden bats
• 18 “ or longer 2 x 4 block of wood
• 2-3 lb. ball pin hammers

The Original Persuader™ is designed with three functions in one tool, as follows;
• Safety Leverage Bar to assist in opening and closing shipping cargo container doors.

• Tire Thumper.

It is with pride that I am able to introduce to you a tool developed specifically for our industry, developed by professional commercial driver/operators for professional commercial driver/operators. The professional commercial driver/operators’ best friend, The Original Persuader™. The first safety leverage bar developed for our industry to assist the professional commercial driver/operator in opening and closing shipping cargo container doors. Safety, safety, safety of the operator is the first consideration, second consideration and the last consideration. Every feature of The Original Persuader™ is designed with the safety of the operator in foremost mind. Necessity is the mother of all inventions, thus the idea for this hand tool was born and the invention became a reality.

Safety, Safety, Safety, this can not be over stated. Unfortunately our Industries bottom line is profits, however the two are not mutually exclusive, and they can work hand in hand. With the proper tool and the proper training, injuries can be reduced. Thereby achieving a higher percentage of available viable workforces, reducing the need to hire and train new hires and allowing them the time to acclimate to the new environment and up to speed. Remember the less time spent on the injured list means more time on the able and working list means more work is being completed means greater profits for both the employee and employer. Also by reducing the frequency of injuries, from the misuse of the inappropriately used tools, management and the workforce can both reach the same goals of less injuries in the work place, especially with preventable, avoidable injuries.

In closing, a healthy employee is a productive employee; lower injuries means greater profits, for both employer and employee.
